Monthly Rate for Weekly Lessons
$100 for 30 minutes/week
$160 for 45 minutes/week
$215 for 60 minutes/week
Ms. Kelsey also offers a multi-sibling discount for families that have more than one student enrolled in her studio! For students enrolled in private lessons, the student with the least expensive lessons will pay full price, and each additional sibling will receive 10% off their monthly lesson cost!
Studio Policies
Attendance
Students are expected to arrive on time and with all their lesson materials each week. No make-up lessons, refunds, or discounts are provided for missed lessons/time. No exceptions. Please select a time slot that will work consistently with your schedule. Additionally, students who are ill should not come to lessons. If the student is feeling well enough to have a lesson, they may opt for an online lesson via Zoom or FaceTime during their regularly scheduled time. Any lessons that I cancel will be made up or refunded according to my discretion. Lessons will be held all year except for the week of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day as well as one week during the summer TBA.
Tuition & Fees
Lessons are billed on a monthly basis. Tuition must be paid before the first lesson of each month. In addition to regular monthly tuition, a non-refundable fee of $25 per family is due with the first month's tuition, and is due annually for subsequent lesson years with January tuition. This fee covers studio business expenses and recital costs. I accept cash, check (made payable to Kelsey Larsen), an Venmo (@graydonkelseylarsen).
Practice Expectations & Incentive Program
Students (and parents) are responsible for at least five days of practice each week. Students will be assigned to practice for an allotted time period; or, students are required to complete a specified number of repetitions for each song, passage, or technique. For students interested in participating in the incentive program, parent initials are required in the student's notebook to verify the number of days the student has practiced. At the end of each lesson, students will stamp their practice card for the number of practice sessions completed that week. One card holds 20 stamps; this means that if the student practices five times for four weeks they will complete their card. Students then have two options. They can exchange their card for a prize from the treasure box, or they can use their card as $1 toward a gift card of their choosing. A minimum of five cards is required (earning the student a $5 gift card) before practice cards can be redeemed. This program works well to keep students motivated, but parent involvement is crucial for continuing success! Please monitor your student's practice and reach out throughout the week with any challenges or questions!
Supplies
Each student is required to provide a notebook for lesson assignments and practice notes. Students are also responsible for purchasing music and other supplies at the teacher's request. Occasionally it will be easier for me to purchase music, in which case, you will be billed separately for these supplies. Flute, piccolo and recorder students are responsible for providing their own instrument. I am available for instrument purchasing consultation upon request and highly recommend you seek my professional opinion before purchasing any instrument. Piano students must have access to a weighted keyboard or acoustic piano.
Recitals, Competitions & Other Performances
Students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of performances throughout the year. No one is required to perform, but it is highly encouraged. There will be two studio recitals held annually (typically in May and December). Recitals will take place in a variety of settings including libraries, assisted living facilities, outdoor venues, and music halls. Flute students will be required to provide their own accompanists for performances requiring piano accompaniment.
Cancellation
If for any reason you need to discontinue lessons, please notify me before the beginning of the next month. Additionally, I reserve the right to terminate any student's lesson due to lack of attendance, practice, or necessary parental support.
